National Cyber Conference „Let’s Be Cyber Aware“ takes place in Belgrade

The Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL) in the capacity of National CERT organized a National Cyber Conference as part of the „Let’s Be Cyber Aware“ campaign.  

The audience was greeted by Dragan Pejović, Director of RATEL, who reminded in his introductory address of RATEL’s commitment to providing experts and appropriate systems for cyber threat detection, incident coordination and exchange of information. He pointed out that the conference objective is to improve institutional, technical and operational capacities through advanced cooperation and exchange of information on cyber threats, application of an adequate critical information infrastructure protection and enhanced public and private partnerships.

The attendees were also addressed by Milan Vojvodić, on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, Mihajlo Andrejić, on behalf of the Office for Information Technologies and e-Government, Dejan Đukić, Director of the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS) and dr Marko Krstić, Chief of RATEL’s Cybersecurity Division and National CERT Affairs, who held a presentation about the National CERT’s authority, activities and future plans.

The conference hosted panel discussions on hot topics such as: Cyber resilience and how to improve it, Protection of critical infrastructure against cyber attacks and Cybersecurity from the private sector angle.

Along with the panel discussions, workshops for the media and SME representatives were held.

As part of the media workshop, current cyber events were presented, including the National CERT activities carried out in the previous year and helpful tips and recommendations for a successful cyber threat detection and adequate response if under attack.

The SME workshop, organized in cooperation with DCAF (Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance), was dedicated to the implementation of protective measures and ICT systems security checks, including tips and recommendations for an efficient information security enhancement.

The National CERT has enabled a direct connection and exchange of knowledge and experience in the area of cybersecurity between the national public and private sector experts, thus contributing to raising awareness on the significance of information security.
