16. October 2026

The international conference CyberChess 2026 was held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, on October 14–15, 2026, with a representative from the National CERT of the Republic of Serbia in attendance. The conference focused on current challenges in the field of information security, contemporary cyber threats and approaches to enhancing the resilience of information systems. Particular attention was given to recovery following cyberattacks, the application of artificial intelligence in both attacks and defense, the analysis of malicious activities and the significance of the human factor in managing security risks.

The conference addressed lessons learned from specific security incidents, as well as the importance of timely threat detection, effective information sharing and coordinated response efforts. The approaches and examples presented help in tracking modern trends and identifying opportunities to further improve the capacities and activities of the National CERT.

Prior to the conference, on October 13, the National CERT representative participated in a meeting of representatives from Western Balkan economies, organized by the Estonian e-Governance Academy (eGA), which focused on exchanging experiences and strengthening regional cooperation in the realm of cybersecurity. The meeting highlighted the importance of timely information sharing regarding threats and the identification of campaigns that could simultaneously pose a risk to multiple economies.

Participation in these events contributes to the continuous professional development and international cooperation of the National CERT, with the aim of improving early warning systems, cyber threat analysis and incident response coordination.

These activities took place during October – Cyber Security Month, which is observed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting information systems and data, recognizing modern-day threats and strengthening security within the digital environment.
