On September 24, 2026, the "Cyber Balkans II: Setting the Course for a Cyber-Resilient Region" conference was held in Skopje. The event was dedicated to presenting the results of the first phase of the Cyber Balkans project and launching the new Cyber Balkans II phase, focusing on further strengthening the capacities and cyber resilience of the Western Balkans region.
The conference was organized by the e-Governance Academy (eGA) from Estonia and the Finnish Institute of Public Management (HAUS) from Finland, with the participation of partner institutions and experts from European Union countries and the Western Balkans region.
A representative from the National CERT of the Republic of Serbia participated in the conference and presented, during the panel discussion titled "Setting the Course Together: National Priorities and the Launch of Cyber Balkans II", the results of the first phase of the Cyber Balkans project, highlighting the importance of practical training, cyber exercises, procedure development and the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation.
Activities aimed at the further development of the institutional framework for information security in the Republic of Serbia were also presented. Emphasis was placed on the importance of collecting and exchanging information regarding incidents and risks, early warning systems, incident response support and the preventive activities of the National CERT.
Other panel discussions addressed the role of European and national expertise within the project's new phase, as well as the significance of regional cooperation and the exchange of information on cyber threats.
The participation of the National CERT representative in the conference contributes to the regional exchange of experiences and the further interconnection of national capacities in the field of information security, particularly as regards training, practical cyber exercises, the exchange of information on cyber threats and coordinated responses to cyber incidents.
The Cyber Balkans II project is a continuation of the "EU Support to Western Balkans Cybersecurity Capacity Building" project, implemented from 2023 to 2026, aimed at further enhancing cyber resilience and developing capacities across the Western Balkans region.
