First joint cyber exercise held as part of preparations for national cyber exercise

27. August 2026

After a period of intensive education and professional preparation, activities aimed at the implementation of the upcoming national cyber exercise have begun. As part of these activities, the first joint cyber exercise was held on August 25, bringing together experts from RATEL, the Office for Information Technologies and e-Government, Data Cloud Technology and the "Cyber Heroes" initiative.

The participants were divided into blue and red teams, with different roles and tasks within the simulated cyber environment. The exercise was moderated by representatives of the National CERT of the Republic of Serbia and expert consultants from the e-Governance Academy (eGA).

The exercise was carried out for the first time on the new Cyber Range platform, specialized in simulating cyber attacks and defense in a realistic network environment. The platform allows participants to practically apply and improve their knowledge and skills in the areas of cyber threat detection, incident response, and attacker activity analysis in controlled conditions.

The special value of this exercise format is reflected in the simultaneous development of the skills of the blue and red teams in the same virtual environment, which allowed the participants to see the approaches and techniques of the other side from a direct perspective, improve mutual understanding and more effectively recognize, analyze and respond to potential cyber threats.

The acquired experience and practical knowledge represent a significant step in the further preparation of the participants for the upcoming national cyber exercise. At the same time, such activities contribute to improving the capacities for prevention, detection and response to cyber incidents, as well as strengthening the overall cyber resilience of the institutions participating in the program.
